P.070 Serial Neurological Assessment in Pediatrics (SNAP) compared to the Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) in PICU

چکیده
Background: Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) is the gold standard for neurological assessment in traumatic head injury. Limitations to GCS include variations rater reliability, test setting and sedation/intubation. Serial Neurological Assessments Pediatrics (SNAP) was designed standardize assessment. We examined efficacy of SNAP earlier detection acute decompensation. Methods: Retrospective analysis identified patients with decline (drop >2 1 hour). reviewed (calculated using consultant notes) scores 48 hours prior decline. Slopes were calculated each score over time. Results: Four eligible, > 2 available calculation. Average slopes 1.3, -0.8, 1.6 2.1 eyes, voice, motor, total GCS, respectively, -2.6, 0, -2.3, -2.4, -2.0, -2.8 -11.9 mental status, cranial nerve, communication, left right upper extremities, lower score, respectively. Conclusions: All aspects had negative steeper decline, whereas only ‘voice’ a trend. These findings suggest that tool may be useful identification Ongoing prospective studies are underway.

Physicians’ Knowledge of the Glasgow Coma Scale in a Nigerian University Hospital: Is the Simple GCS Still Too Complex?
OBJECTIVE The Glasgow Coma Scale, GCS, is a universal clinical means of quantifying the level of impaired consciousness. Although physicians usually receive undergraduate and postgraduate training in the use of this scale in our university hospital we are aware of studies suggesting that the working knowledge of the GCS among practising physicians might not be adequate. METHODS We carried out...
